Welcome to the website of Egide/Pietro

Swiss Of French origin, Egide began his five-year apprenticeship studies at l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris in 1979, under the tutelage and inspiration of master engraver, Jean-Marie Granier. A teacher himself from 1984 to 1991 at l’Ecole des Beaux Arts de la Ville de Paris, he frequently undertook long voyages across Europe during which he considerably enriched his art and scope, as much at the technical level as in the variety of subjects.

Between 1989 and 1994 he exhibited both individually and collectively in France and Europe. When he arrived in Canada in 2000, he immediately gave a series of conferences about the engraver and his burin at the Université de Sherbrooke. After living there for fifteen years, he settled in Ticino (CH) in 2015.

In 2002 appears Pietro the drawer, Egide's hidden feature and alter ego, thrashing at the mecanisms of society, highlighting its contradictions and using his sense of humour to illustrate and make fun of a sometimes strange world.

For nearly 30 years the engraving work of Egide has been found in numerous private collections on foreign soil.

We wish you a very good visit!
